4.1 Request for Quotation

You may request a free, no obligation quotation by contacting us via telephone, email, WhatsApp or through the contact form on our website. Where a site visit is required to assess the scope of works, we will arrange a mutually convenient time to attend your property.

4.2 Validity of Quotations

All quotations provided by GZ Contractors Limited are valid for a period of 30 days from the date of issue, unless otherwise stated in writing. Quotations provided outside this period may be subject to revision to reflect any changes in material costs, labour rates or other relevant factors.

4.3 Quotation Contents

Our quotations will set out the proposed scope of works, the estimated total cost, an indicative timeline for completion, any assumptions or exclusions that apply, and any materials or services that are outside the scope of the quotation. It is the client’s responsibility to review the quotation carefully and raise any queries or concerns before acceptance.

4.4 Variations to Scope

Where additional works are required that were not included in the original quotation, we will provide a written variation order setting out the additional works, costs and any impact on the project timeline. Variation orders must be approved and signed by the client before additional works commence. We shall not be liable for any delay caused by the client’s failure to approve variation orders in a timely manner.

  1. Payment Terms

5.1 Deposit

Upon acceptance of a quotation and before works commence, a deposit will be required. The amount of the deposit will be specified in the quotation and is typically calculated as a percentage of the total contract value. The deposit is required to secure your project in our schedule and to cover the cost of initial materials procurement.

5.2 Staged Payments

For larger projects, payments will typically be structured in agreed stages linked to key milestones in the construction programme. The schedule of staged payments will be set out in the quotation or agreed in writing prior to commencement. Each stage payment is due within 7 days of the relevant milestone being reached and an invoice being issued.

5.3 Final Payment

The final payment is due upon practical completion of the works as agreed with the client. Practical completion is defined as the point at which the works are substantially complete, and the property is ready for occupation or use, notwithstanding any minor snagging items. Any snagging items will be addressed promptly following the final payment.

5.4 Late Payment

In the event that any payment is not received by the due date, we reserve the right to charge interest on the outstanding amount at a rate of 8% per annum above the Bank of England base rate, in accordance with the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998, as well as any applicable late payment charges. We also reserve the right to suspend work until payment is received.

  1. Commencement and Completion

6.1 Start Date

A proposed start date for the works will be agreed with you at the time of contract formation. This start date is indicative and may be subject to change due to factors including but not limited to unforeseen site conditions, delays in planning or building regulation approvals, supply chain delays or other circumstances beyond our reasonable control.

6.2 Project Timeline

We will provide you with an indicative project timeline at the outset of the works. Whilst we will make every reasonable effort to complete the works within the agreed timeframe, we cannot guarantee completion by a specific date where delays arise from factors outside our control, including changes to the scope of works requested by the client, adverse weather conditions, delayed delivery of materials or unforeseen structural issues.

6.3 Client Cooperation

The client agrees to provide reasonable access to the property at agreed times and to make prompt decisions regarding any matters that require client input, including the selection of materials, finishes or design options. Delays caused by the client’s failure to cooperate or make timely decisions may result in adjustments to the project timeline and may incur additional costs.

  1. Workmanship Guarantee

GZ Contractors Limited provides a quality-focused workmanship on all works carried out by us. This guarantee covers defects in workmanship arising from our own works and does not extend to damage caused by misuse, neglect, structural movement, subsidence, third-party interference or any other factor outside our control. In the event of a valid claim under this guarantee, we will, at our discretion, repair or rectify the relevant defect at no additional cost to you.

  1. Insurance

GZ Contractors Limited holds comprehensive public liability insurance and employers’ liability insurance appropriate to the nature and scale of the building works we undertake. We strongly recommend that clients ensure their own buildings and contents insurance remains in force during the period of works, as our policies do not extend to cover the client’s existing property or possessions.

  1. Planning Permission and Building Regulations

9.1 Client Responsibility

It is the client’s responsibility to obtain any required planning permission or listed building consent prior to the commencement of works, unless we have been specifically engaged to manage the planning application process on the client’s behalf. We may assist in advising on the likelihood of planning permission being required, but this does not constitute formal planning advice, and the client should seek independent professional guidance where necessary.

9.2 Building Regulations

Where works are subject to Building Regulations approval, we will work with the relevant local authority or approved inspector to ensure compliance with current Building Regulations as applicable. The cost of Building Regulations applications and inspections will be set out in the quotation. Any additional works required to achieve compliance that arise as a result of inspection findings and which were not foreseeable at the time of quotation may be subject to additional charges.

  1. Materials

Unless otherwise agreed in writing, GZ Contractors Limited will procure all materials required for the works. We select materials that are appropriate to the specification and quality standards agreed with the client. Where the client wishes to supply their own materials, this must be agreed with us in advance. We cannot be responsible for any defects or delays arising from materials supplied by the client. Any materials that are ordered specifically for your project on a bespoke or non-standard basis may be non-returnable, and the associated costs may be retained from the deposit in the event of cancellation.

  1. Client Obligations

By entering into a contract with us, you agree to the following obligations:

To provide clear and accurate information regarding the property and the scope of works required. To provide unobstructed access to the property at agreed times and to ensure the site is safe and accessible for our workers. To ensure that any pets or other animals are kept safely away from the works area. To make prompt decisions and approvals as required to avoid delays to the project programme. To make all payments in accordance with the agreed payment schedule. To inform us immediately of any changes or concerns arising during the works.

  1. Cancellation

12.1 Cancellation by the Client

You may cancel a contract with us by providing written notice. Where cancellation occurs before works have commenced, the deposit may be retained in full to cover our reasonable costs of preparation, scheduling and any materials that have already been procured. Where cancellation occurs after works have commenced, you will be liable to pay for all works completed to the date of cancellation, together with any reasonable costs incurred in demobilising from the site and any materials that cannot be returned or reallocated.

12.2 Cancellation by Us

We reserve the right to cancel a contract in exceptional circumstances, including where the client has failed to make payments in accordance with the agreed schedule, where access to the property has been unreasonably withheld, or where circumstances arise that make it impossible or impractical for us to complete the works. In such circumstances, we will provide written notice and will refund any payments made for works not yet completed.

  1. Liability

13.1 Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability to you in connection with any contract shall not exceed the total value of the contract. We shall not be liable for any indirect, consequential, incidental or special loss or damage, including but not limited to loss of profit, loss of business, loss of anticipated savings or any other indirect economic loss, whether arising in contract, tort, negligence or otherwise.

13.2 Exceptions

Nothing in these Terms and Conditions shall limit or exclude our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.

  1. Dispute Resolution

In the event of a dispute arising from our services or these Terms and Conditions, we encourage you to contact us in the first instance so that we may seek to resolve the matter informally and amicably. If the matter cannot be resolved through direct communication, we agree to consider mediation or other alternative dispute resolution methods before resorting to legal proceedings. Nothing in this clause shall prevent either party from seeking urgent injunctive or other equitable relief from a court of competent jurisdiction.

  1. Force Majeure

We shall not be in breach of contract or liable for any failure or delay in performing our obligations arising from circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to acts of God, extreme weather conditions, pandemic, governmental action, supply chain disruption, civil unrest or any other event that could not reasonably have been anticipated or mitigated. In such circumstances, we will notify you as soon as practicable and will take all reasonable steps to minimise any impact on your project.

  1. Data Protection

We process personal data in connection with your enquiry and the delivery of our services in accordance with our Privacy Policy and in compliance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018. By engaging our services, you acknowledge that we will process your personal data as described in our Privacy Policy, which is available on our website.

  1. Intellectual Property

All designs, drawings, plans, documents, images and other materials created by GZ Contractors Limited in connection with your project remain the intellectual property of GZ Contractors Limited until all sums due under the contract have been paid in full. Upon full payment, ownership of such materials as specifically agreed upon will transfer to the client. We reserve the right to use images and information about completed projects for our own marketing and promotional purposes, including on our website, social media channels and other materials, unless the client specifically requests otherwise in writing.

  1. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions and any contract formed between the client and us shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising out of or in connection with these Terms and Conditions or any such contract shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

  1. Changes to These Terms and Conditions

We reserve the right to update these Terms and Conditions from time to time to reflect changes in our business practices, applicable law or other relevant factors. Any updated Terms and Conditions will be published on our website with a revised effective date. It is your responsibility to check these Terms and Conditions periodically. Your continued use of our website or engagement of our services following the publication of revised Terms and Conditions constitutes your acceptance of those changes.
